Important Announcement From Less Than Three Press
Dear Customers and Supporters of Less Than Three,
It is with a heavy heart we announce the closing of Less Than Three Press. Despite our best efforts, we cannot continue on. We apologize this comes so sudden, but the past month has made it clear that it’s best if we withdraw now, rather than keep hoping and pushing, and end things too late to exit gracefully and with minimal harm.
Thank you for believing in us, and helping us with our dream of seeing more queer representation in the romance genre. The past ten years have been a joy and honor, and we truly regret we won’t have ten more. It’s been a wonderful journey, and we’re grateful to everyone who lent their support and encouragement as we worked to bring more queer representation to the romance world.
If you have purchased a book that has not yet been released, your preorder will be refunded within the next few days. Your library will be available to download through September 30, 2019. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]. We anticipate a large volume of requests, so please be patient as we work through replies.
Samantha, Megan, and Sasha
(A separate announcement was sent to editors, authors, and artists; below are the additional details regarding editor, artist, and author projects and rights.)
Editors and artists
Please complete any projects currently assigned; you will be paid for these as usual and your work forwarded to authors.
Rights reversions: Your rights are reverted effective immediately. We will be working on removing the books from LT3 and all third party sites. Bear with us, this could take some time. We aim to have all books down by July 31, 2019.
If you have a book that is available for preorder, that book will be removed from the LT3 Book Market and any third-party vendors and all preorders refunded to customers. If you have received royalties from preorders made in a previous quarter, those are yours to keep.
If you have a book that is currently with an editor or artist for editing or cover art, those projects will be completed and forwarded to you, though no additional editing or artwork will be commissioned past what is currently in process.
Cover art and LT3-crafted blurb: For all currently published books and all books that have not been released, you are free and clear to keep your cover and the blurb crafted by LT3 to use as you like.
Translations and audiobooks: These rights revert to you as well, and you are welcome to re-use the cover art for these versions as well.
Edits: All rights to any edits are yours, free and clear. (We feel that should be a given, but better to be detailed.)
Royalties: Royalties will be paid according to contract timelines, at the absolute latest. Q2 2019 payments will be issued in August 2019 as usual, and for July 2019 at the latest in November 2019 (though we do hope to issue those payments sooner). If you are receiving checks, please cash them as soon as possible as we will not be keeping the LT3 Bank Accounts open indefinitely.
Ebooks: If you would like us to redo your ebooks, sans the LT3 information, we can do that (but we can only do that, we do not have the ability to make additional changes, just strip our info and rebuild the ebooks). Contact [email protected] and put ‘New Ebooks’ in the subject line.
Master Word Documents: If you would like the master word document for your story (print, ebook, or translations), we will send that gladly. Contact [email protected] and I will send the file. Please put ‘Book File’ in the subject line.
All books* will be removed from the LT3 Book Market and third-party vendors by July 31.
Royalties will be paid for Q2 2019 sales in August 2019. Royalties for sales in July 2019 will be paid at the latest by contract date of November 2019.
The LT3 Book Market will be available for customers to download their purchases through September 30.
*Please note that we do plan to leave the books written by Megan Derr and Sasha L. Miller up to generate revenue for any unforeseen closing costs that may arise.
